By using DownSub, you agree to use the subtitle downloader responsibly and only for lawful purposes.

1. What DownSub Does

DownSub is a web tool for preparing available public captions and transcripts in common formats such as SRT, VTT, and TXT. Extraction depends on the source video exposing public caption data.

2. Permitted Use

Use DownSub only with videos you own, have permission to use, or where downloading and using captions is allowed by copyright law, fair-use principles, and the relevant platform terms.

3. Prohibited Use

You may not use DownSub to:

  • Bypass private videos, paywalls, DRM, login requirements, or access controls.
  • Redistribute copyrighted subtitles or transcripts without permission.
  • Automate abusive requests against DownSub or third-party platforms.
  • Misrepresent downloaded captions as your own original work.

4. Caption Availability

Subtitle availability depends on the source video and platform. A video may not have captions, captions may be auto-generated and inaccurate, or platform changes may interrupt support.

5. No Affiliation

DownSub is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube, Google, Vimeo, or any other video platform. Third-party trademarks belong to their owners.

6. No Legal Advice

These terms are provided for general site use and are not legal advice. You are responsible for the URLs you submit and for how you use any captions or transcripts.

7. Service Provided As-Is

DownSub is provided as-is. Subtitle availability is not guaranteed, and support may change when third-party platforms modify their caption systems, access rules, or technical behavior.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DownSub is not responsible for user-submitted URLs, third-party content, inaccurate captions, failed downloads, platform changes, or how users choose to use downloaded subtitles or transcripts.

9. Changes

We may update these terms as the product changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the latest version.
