DownSub is designed around a simple principle: collect only what is needed to operate the site and respond to user requests.

Subtitle URL Processing

The subtitle tool sends submitted public video URLs to the server so it can look for caption tracks exposed by the source platform.

Video URLs and Subtitle Files

Submitted URLs may be processed temporarily to locate available public caption tracks. DownSub should not store submitted video URLs or generated subtitle files longer than necessary to complete the requested action.

Contact Form

If you use the contact form, we may receive the name, email address, subject, and message you provide. We use that information only to respond to your request, investigate a bug, or review a platform-support suggestion.

Logs and Security

Hosting providers may create standard technical logs such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, and timestamp. These logs are used for security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and uptime monitoring.

Cookies and Analytics

This project does not require account cookies. If analytics or error monitoring are added later, they should be configured in a privacy-conscious way and documented on this page.

No Selling Personal Information

DownSub is not designed to sell personal information. If a future production deployment adds analytics, support tooling, hosting services, or abuse-prevention tools, those providers should be documented and used only for site operation, security, support, and performance.

Third-Party Platforms

DownSub is an independent utility. Videos, captions, and platform pages remain governed by the privacy policies and terms of the services where those videos are hosted.
